DO GARAGE DOORS REQUIRE MAINTENANCE?
We recommend that you lube your door and inspect the door opener safety on an annual basis. You can enter your email on our homepage to be notified of periodic tune-up specials.
I HIT MY DOOR, CAN YOU REPLACE JUST ONE SECTION OR DO I NEED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE DOOR?
You can replace individual door sections if the manufacturer still makes that particular model. However, we cannot guarantee an exact color match with an older faded door.
AFTER IT RAINS, WE GET WATER IN THE GARAGE – WAS THIS A BAD DOOR INSTALL?
The weatherstrip on a door is not a perfect seal because it causes too much friction on the door if it is applied too tight - So it is possible that driving rain with get through. Another common problem is that garage doors are designed to be installed level, so if your concrete is not level, this will allow an opening for water to pass. There are different seals that can be used to reduce this problem, but a level approach sloped away from the door is the ideal situation.
CAN I PAINT MY STEEL DOOR?
Yes – we recommend you first degloss the door and then use either Benjamin Moore Iron Clad Latex or Sherwin Williams Duration. For darker colors, Duration should be used because it does not retain heat from the sun. We also can pre-paint your door for you, let us know if you want a quote.
WE WANT TO CONVERT (2) SMALL DOORS INTO (1) LARGE DOOR, CAN WE DO THAT?
Our carpenters do this all the time, we would be glad to provide you with a free estimate.
DO YOU SELL REPLACEMENT WEATHERSTRIP?
Yes, since there are various types, we recommend that you measure the size you need and bring in a small sample so that we can match it up.
HOW DO I RE-PROGRAM MY REMOTE CONTROL?
Since 1993 all Liftmaster, Sears, and Chamberlain remotes can be programmed by:
1) Press and release the “learn” button (green, red, orange, purple or blue) that is located on the door opener. A small indicator light will glow.
2) Within 30 seconds, press and hold the button on your remote control – when successful the lights on the door opener will flash – release the button and press again to test.
For older openers and other brands, contact us and we will try to walk you through it.
HOW DO I PROGRAM MY KEYLESS ENTRY?
For most current openers do the following:
1) Press and release the learn button that is located on the door opener.
2) Within 30 seconds enter 4 digits into the keypad and then press enter.
CAN I REPLACE MY BROKEN SPRING MYSELF?
We STRONGLY suggest that you do not attempt to replace springs, cables or bottom brackets yourself. All of these items are under extreme tension and can cause serious injury or death.
